The Town of Miranda California Miranda is a small unincorporated town in Southern Humboldt County, California. Near to the southern entrance to the Avenue of the Giants, Miranda is home to South Fork High School. The school's name refers to the South Fork of the Eel River. The town was named by a former postmistress and is within a five minute walk of the south fork of the Eel River whose banks are surrounded by giant redwood trees. Miranda is located directly on the Avenue of the Giants between Myers Flat to the north and Phillipsville to the south.
The town has a post office, two restaurants, a motel, a market, a Seventh-day Adventist church and one-room school, which services grades 1-8, a gas station, and a gift shop. There is also a glass gallery one mile south of Miranda near where the Avenue of the Giants connects with State Highway 101.
